As I start this blog entry, I realize I have so much to be grateful for. Maybe this is what bothers me about people in general. There seems to be less gratitude than ever before. I realize that some of this is because we are all overwhelmed with various issues in life. If you think about it, this is not the first time in history that world has faced economic issues, greed ran the planet or that politicians are out of touch with reality and the citizens are having to deal with these issues. We did have the Great Depression after all. The difference was that most people who went through it were grateful for every thing they had and every day they were given. Looking at my life over the past decade, I have realized that, I too have not always shown gratitude. It is not that I was not grateful, its that I forgot to let it show because I got so wrapped up in life. When I look back on it, life happens. There's good and bad. Usually the bad is because I allowed someone else's crap to interfere with what I should have been focusing on.
So again I am at a cross roads of sorts. It is easy to complain about what I do not have or whatnot. A wise person once told me that " All you have to do in life is be true to yourself and do right by your kids if you have them." " The rest is optional." Really thinking about this statement is like having an ephany. Could life really be this simple? Well it is if you realize that this statement does not mean that you should be out for yourself only and never help another person or that you should achieve your goals at the expense of other people. What it means is that you have to really look at what you want to accomplish and where do you want to go in life. So often we settle for less and get to an age where we think that something is no longer achievable because we are too old to do it. We then give up. Well, I have decided that no longer will I get caught up in that trap. No one has the right to tell someone else that they can not do something or that they are too old to take that journey. As I walk this journey, I will be grateful for all that help me along the way. For where I am now is not where I will be in the future.

This is Ridiculous
This is not my first blogging experience. I have done many blogs for school. This is the first blogging experience that I have done on my own that was not a part of an assignment. From blogging before, I found that it was a great way to vent, let go, and be a complete person. Let's face it, there is more stress in life now than there has been in a long time. So anything positive that allows you to get stuff off your chest, good or bad, is not a bad thing.
So the title of my blog is The Way I See it by Dawn. I picked the title because I see things in rather unique ways. For instance, I believe that most everything happens for a reason. I can not always say the reason because it is often a long time before I understand what the purpose was for something to have happened. A good example: My friend's teenage son being killed by a drunk driver. The drunk who hit and killed him will never go to trial because it was ruled an accident. No! I have no answer why her son had to be killed nor the person who was over the limit will never see the inside of the court house. This is one of those things. On other things, I get the reasoning right off. Usually it is because of some person's actions or my own that has caused some instant karma.
Another thing that is plaguing me lately, why is it that most everyone I know has decided that I can save them from whatever is going on in their life? This happens in spells. This week alone, it has become ridiculous! The sad thing is that I truly care for all these people but quite frankly, I don't have the answers that the want or need. It is like talk shows: Does anyone really think that the 45 min someone is on the show is really going to miraculiously fix whatever situation is going on? It probably took years to get to the point in which you went on a talk show in the first place. So why would 45 min of " Airing your dirty laundry to the national viewing audience" fix the 20 years of whatever problem you are having in life? Duhhh it won't. For those who think I have the answers to everything that is going on in their life I don't have it either. It is not that I mind listening, or to give sound advice or be a friend. However, I can not fix your issues when you wouldn't listen in the first place before it got to this point.
I guess my point is that I can listen and try to help... but if it is going to consume me, then I can't help you. Maybe that is part of the point of blogging. It helps put some things in perspective.
